What began in 2015 as a digital archive to share the city’s lesser-known history through JaipurThruMyLens, which went on to win the 2019 London Bloggers Bash Award, gradually evolved into something deeper – heritage walking tour Jaipur.
I watched as mainstream tourism increasingly reduced a magnificent, UNESCO World Heritage city into a series of rushed photo-ops and commercial stopovers. The true Jaipur, the city of brilliant urban planning, generational artisans, and quiet, atmospheric alleys was being bypassed.”
The heritage walking tours began in 2016, just a year and a half after the blog launched, at the request of a traveler. It took seven years for that initial idea to blossom into what it is today. In 2023, Jaipur Retold was born out of a personal mission to offer an alternative – a slower, more intentional way to experience the city.

Arv didn’t set out to run a heritage walking tour company. He set out to document a city he felt was being misread.
A blogger, photographer, and heritage researcher, Arv has spent over a decade walking the walled city’s lanes; not as a tourist, but as someone piecing together its urban logic, its forgotten built heritage, its artisan lineages, and the quiet rhythms of its old neighbourhoods. That obsession led to JaipurThruMyLens, a documentation project that earned global recognition with the 2019 London Bloggers Bash Award.
